Bri’s style never fails to inspire. Obviously, considering my sketchbook is full of images directly inspired the by her style posts!

Bri Emery has fantastic style, on top of being a great graphic designer. Her blog, designlovefest, is a constant source of inspiration.
I’m loving her most recent style column post. The colors, pattern and texture of this look are just too good. Look at that collar!
Illustration is a big part of my personal design style, so I try to sketch often. I liked this image I sketched based on Bri’s post. Thought it would be fun to share here..

It has been one year, almost to the day, since we moved from central Maine to coastal New Hampshire. While we absolutely love our new home and neighborhood, we miss many of the people we had to say goodbye to. Last weekend we took a road trip to visit with a few of my very favorite people. It was so nice to spend time catching up, visiting some of our favorite local places and exploring new ones.
I didn’t bring my camera around much because it was so hot and humid. I did manage to take a few shots on my friend’s front porch on a sunny Saturday morning. She has the most charming home and fantastic collection of plants! I miss her already..

It seems every design blogger is talking about Moonrise Kingdom. I saw the film this past weekend, and loved it! Visually, this film is amazing. The colors, the costumes, the lighting, the typography.. all spot on. The story about young love and adventure is incredibly charming and fun. It’s the perfect summer movie.
For those who love design, Moonrise Kingdom is full of eye candy. One of my favorite things about the movie was the color. Set in the 60′s, the colors are soft and a bit feminine. Inspired, after we got home I designed a pattern using the same colorway.
Wondering about the fab typography used throughout the film? Jessica Hische is the genius graphic designer behind the dinstinctive typeface. Check her out her work, here.

A strawberry tart, for me, is the epitome of Summer. The sweetness of the fruit mixed with the intense vanilla flavor of the custard and the almond crust – pure heaven. Bonus: The recipe made enough for three desserts (the extra dough for the crust and the custard freeze very well). A must try this season!

This past weekend was spent enjoying the company of family, beautiful weather and a few quiet moments. Lovely weekends make hectic Mondays a bit easier to take, don’t they?

Been busy taking some product shots of designs I’ve been wanting to make available for a VERY long time. I’m very excited to get a little paper shop going on Wit and Whim very soon. Stay tuned..

Oh Thursday, how I wish you were Friday! It has been a cool, dreary week. A hectic work schedule has me ready to throw in the towel and welcome the weekend. One more day..

Summer is here and I couldn’t be happier. With a less hectic work schedule and a break from school, I’m looking forward to a bit more leisure and a lot more time for aimless creativity. Sometimes it’s nice to make things for no other reason than for fun..
